Big Business in NWA

Northwest Arkansas continually ranks among the highest in the nation for job growth by Forbes magazine and other business publications. Legacy National Bank is proud of our role as a community bank supporting our various industries with business loans and other financial products to help these businesses and their employees thrive. Here we take a look at just a few examples driving our healthy local economy.

Arkansas Children’s Northwest Hospital

In August of 2015, the Little Rock-based healthcare organization, Arkansas Children’s, announced plans for a new pediatric-care hospital in Springdale. Today, ACH-Northwest is a 233,613 square-foot facility of inpatient beds, emergency care, surgical services, diagnostic services and clinical space right in our own backyard.

This facility contributes to our quality of life and gives parents peace of mind; it also contributes to job growth and our economic bottom line. According to the Arkansas Children’s Northwest website, there are a number of clinical and non-clinical positions with competitive pay and benefits for employees. These are new jobs, which weren’t in our region just three years ago, and the hospital will continue to recruit world-class specialty doctors to ACH-Northwest in the years to come.

Startup Junkie

Northwest Arkansas has a history of entrepreneurial spirit. Companies like Walmart, J.B. Hunt, Tyson and George’s Chicken got their start right here. One company nurturing innovation for the next generation of entrepreneurs is Startup Junkie.

Offering no-cost, one-on-one consulting in addition to workshops and programs, the organization continues to educate, inspire and support entrepreneurs and innovators. They have helped many startups in Northwest Arkansas get access to capital and talent. If you have a new business idea, get connected at one of their many local programs and events.

The Big Three

Of course no discussion about the healthy NWA economy would be complete without a mention of the Fortune 500 companies – Walmart, Tyson Foods and J.B. Hunt. According to the Northwest Arkansas Council’s website, the “Big Three” are still the region’s largest employers and all have made recent commitments to NWA’s future.

Walmart’s plans for an impressive new headquarters in Bentonville, Tyson’s recent technology hub in downtown Springdale and J.B. Hunt’s expansion of their corporate headquarters continues to bring jobs into our region.
